چکیده
While the incidence ofmany parasitic diseases has decreased because of the development of anthelmintics and environmental hygiene, infection by Trichuris still occurs. This parasite exhibits some special parasitological and clinical features. Beaver et al introduced the term visceral larva migrans in the case of toxocariasis.' While the visceral larva migrans syndrome has been reported to be caused by many parasites,2 no report of this syndrome occurring as a result of Trichuris vulpis has appeared. We report a case of visceral larva migrans caused by Trichuris vulpis that was confirmed by parasite morphology and immunoelectrophoretic study.

Visceral larva migrans caused by Trichuris vulpis.
Two brothers with visceral larva migrans caused by Trichuris vulpis were diagnosed after they had been investigated for an eosinophilia. Both patients were almost asymptomatic. The diagnosis of visceral larva migrans was based on the results of immunoelectrophoretic studies and no liver biopsy was performed. After administration of thiabendazole, the number of eosinophils and serum total IgE le...

A 16-year-old girl developed a cough, hypereosinophilia (absolute eosinophil count: 32000/mm3), hypergammaglobulinemia, and multiple noncavitary pulmonary nodules 1 month after having ingested an earthworm on a dare. Spirometry revealed moderate restriction and reduced gas diffusion. Parabronchial biopsy demonstrated eosinophilic organizing pneumonitis with multiple eosinophilic microabscesses,...

Introduction: Visceral larva migrans (VLM) is an uncommon parasitic infection most commonly caused by Toxocara canis and Toxocara cati. Imaging features of hepatic VLM on contrast enhanced computed tomography (CECT) include presence of small, single or multiple (usually less than two cms in diameter) hypovascular eosinophilic abscesses seen enhancing only on portal venous phase (PVP) on triple ...

Parasitic diseases can cause different syndrome (visceral larva migrans, ocular larva migrans) and the clinical features can be confusing. Severe organ involvement affecting the live...
